Australian cricket is in mourning once more after Andrew Symonds, a two-times World Cup winner, was killed in a car crash at the age of 46.
The tragedy follows the deaths in March of former Test wicketkeeper Rod Marsh and leg-spinning legend Shane Warne, a friend of Symonds both on the field and in the commentary box.
Adam Gilchrist – another ex-teammate – used the nickname by which Symonds was universally known. ‘Think of your most loyal, fun, loving friend who would do anything for you,’ he tweeted. ‘That’s Roy.’
