Daniil Medvedev has branded Wimbledon's decision to ban Russian and Belarusian players 'unfair', but has not given up hope on it being overturned.

The All England Club made the decision last month to ban all male and female Russian and Belarusian players from SW19 for the tournament being held from June 27 until July 10, in response to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

The ATP player council has called for Wimbledon to be stripped of ranking points in a row that has continued to rumble on, with threats to reduce or abolish them at UK events this summer ongoing.

Rafael Nadal last week insisted it is his job to stand up for Russian and Belarusian players banned from Wimbledon after the Spaniard and Roger Federer were told to 'come clean' about their involvement in men's tennis stars calling for to be stripped of ranking points.

But now in comments reported by TASS, world No 2 Medvedev understands the situation is 'delicate' but insists the boundaries have been blurred across the sporting world by the ban.

'On the one hand, I can understand it and, on the other, I find it unfair,' Medvedev said.
