City fell two goals behind against Aston Villa on Sunday, and looked in danger of throwing away their crown at the final hurdle, but they mounted a stunning comeback to claim a 3-2 victory. The 51-year-old was asked what he said to his players at half time after his side went into the break 1-0 down. Guardiola replied: 'It was score the goal, and go (with) the momentum. Our people did the rest.' Ilkay Gundogan proved to be City's hero, coming off the bench to score twice, either side of a Rodri strike. 'Next season it is five substitutions. And you will see how (much of a) genius I am! You will see, don’t worry!' he joked. City's dramatic win ensured that they finished a point clear of Liverpool in the final standings. Guardiola was keen to hail Liverpool's contribution to another exciting title race. 'I’ve never seen a team like Liverpool in my life. I know it’s tough, but big congratulations. They help us to be a better team season-by-season,' he added.
