NSW Blues debutant Kotoni Staggs doesn't have to look far when he wants to be inspired.
A distinctive tattoo on his arm is an ode to his late nan Dawn, who raised the Broncos star while his mother was in jail.
She also did her best to keep the centre out of trouble away from footy after he burst onto the NRL scene in 2018.
Staggs' tribute ink features a recreated 18th birthday card message from his beloved Dawn, along with the postcode of a suburb of Wellington, NSW, a Wiradjuri totem and Tongan iconography.
The 23-year-old labelled Dawn 'his everything' and revealed the family matriarch 'always made sure there was food on the table and clothes on our back' for Staggs and his siblings.
Before she passed away in 2019, Dawn had her work
