Aussie golf star Cameron Smith has put himself in a strong position to win yet another PGA tour event - rolling in a spectacular chip-in to sit as the lone leader going into the final two days of the $12 million purse Memorial Tournament. 

The 28-year-old Queenslander has been in career best form, winning two titles throughout the year, most notably the 'fifth' major, the Players Championship.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympian carded a -3, 69 round, with a little help from a crazy scramble on the 12th hole rough, which made for an insane birdie. 

Smith missed the green on the par three and pulled off a crafty chip that kicked off the fringe and rolled across to the surface into the cup. 

The Brisbane born icon believes his game is in a good place.

'I'm playing some of the best golf of my life', Smith said.

'I think mentally I'm in a good spot. I've got a few things to tidy up with my longer stuff.
