Sean Strickland has claimed he is being used 'as a ploy' by the UFC in an attempt to earn Alex Pereira a title shot at Israel Adesanya.
If both Adesanya and Pereira win at UFC 276 on Saturday night, there will be a compelling narrative for them to lock horns given that the Brazilian knocked him out during their kickboxing days.
Pereira is a formidable striker but other elements of his MMA game are more rudimentary, so a match-up with Strickland is favourable in terms of style.
