UFC hall-of-fame legend Daniel Cormier has admitted to 'holding the towel' in an attempt to cut weight by over a pound before his famous title-defence against Anthony Johnson in 2017.

Cormier, now retired, revealed he used the old-school wrestling trick after failing to make the required weight limit of 205lbs prior to standing on the scales in New York. 

The 43-year-old made a last-ditch effort to rescue the fight and avoid embarrassment by holding onto a towel held up in front of him by his team when having his weight taken.
