Sportsmail put former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott's predictions to the test Do you think Manchester City will win the Premier League title? Lescott says: YES / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'I always think that the team that won it the season before should be the favourites and with the signings they've made, it makes them stronger.' Do you think Liverpool will push City as close in the title race? Lescott says: NO / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'I think Mane is a huge miss for them. There were games where he just grabbed it by the horns and affected them. So I don't think it will be as close as people think.' Do you think Manchester City will win the Champions League? Lescott says: YES / Lie detector says: Telling a lie Lescott: 'That was hope! I couldn't pick a team to win the Champions League, there's no favourites in that competition. Particularly after what happened last season.' Lescott believes City will win the league title but is not as confident of their chances in Europe Will Erling Haaland outscore Harry Kane in the Premier League? Lescott says: NO / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'I think Haaland will score more goals across the whole season in all competitions. But if Harry Kane is fit then he will play. Haaland will play if Pep feels its right.' Will Raheem Sterling be a success at Chelsea? Lescott says: YES / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'He's a good signing. Chelsea need him and I'm a big fan of Sterling. I don't think City will regret losing him as a player, but maybe him as a person.' Will Manchester United finish in the top four? Lescott says: NO / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'I've got such belief in that! I think it will be City, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea. I think United will improve under Ten Hag, but sustained momentum and pressure on the top four teams is unlikely.' A lie detector test revealed whether the 39-year-old truly believed what he was predicting Will Manchester United finish higher if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves? Lescott says: NO / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'I'm not sure on that one. He scores goals and goals win games, so I'm not sure how United would score less goals and finish higher. If he wants to go then they should part ways, but I don't think as a club they should be looking to let him go. He's a massive player in the Premier League. I don't think he hinders their performance.' Will Tottenham finish above Arsenal? Lescott says: YES / Lie detector says: Telling a lie Lescott: 'Wow! I'd have Spurs as my dark horses. They finished in the top four last season and I don't think Arsenal will overtake them. At least I'm keeping everyone happy!' Lescott predicted Tottenham to finish above neighbours Arsenal but it was picked up as a lie Will Sadio Mane be able to effectively replace Sadio Mane at Liverpool? Lescott says: NO / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'I like Nunez as a signing, but I don't think he's there to replace Sadio. Diaz should do that. Nunez will be a success though. 'I do think Liverpool will definitely miss Mane more than they anticipate. He had the capability to play well even when he wasn't scoring. He can get man of the match and affect games without scoring.' Will Newcastle qualify for Europe? Lescott says: NO / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'I haven't even thought about them! You're looking at seventh place and that's probably West Ham or Wolves.' Lescott says he 'hasn't even thought about' newly-rich Newcastle to qualify for Europe Will Brentford suffer second season syndrome? Lescott says: YES / Lie detector says: Telling the truth Lescott: 'Eriksen was huge for them. He earned them so many points last season, so I do worry for Brentford.' Believe it?
