A staple of the Chicago Bears defense shocked the team Tuesday when Roquan Smith demanded a trade.
In a statement provided to the NFL Network and shared through insider Ian Rapoport, Smith stated that he wanted to play for the Bears for his whole career but felt he had no alternative options.
Smith was drafted with the 8th overall pick in the 2018 draft out of Georgia, where he was named a unanimous All-American in his final season.
In his post, Smith said his desire and wishes to continue playing in Chicago remained, but not at the sacrifice of his career.
