Essendon president Paul Brasher is reportedly set to stand down later on Monday as fallout from the Bombers' disastrous campaign continues - with speculation that coach Ben Rutten could be sacked effective immediately.

A day after they were humbled in an 84-point smashing at the hands of Port Adelaide, Brasher appears ready to step aside amid speculation all is not well at board level.

Reports say the board will meet later on Monday to decide the pair's future, with the demolition by the Power also putting Rutten's job under threat.

Current assistant coach Daniel Giansiracusa will take over from Rutten for the team's last game of the year and David Barham will step in as president, according to a report by 3AW's Neil Mitchell.
