New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi underwent surgery for his broken wrist on Tuesday, but Yankees manager Aaron Boone is hopeful it will not be a season-ending one.

Benintendi was originally placed on the Il with 'wrist inflammation,' after leaving a game last week in the third inning. It was later discovered that he had broke the hook of the hamate bone in his right wrist.
