After a year to forget on and off the field with the Newcastle Knights, Kalyn Ponga has treated himself to a Bali holiday after the fullback ruled himself out of the Kangaroos World Cup squad so he could focus on his career with the club.
The Knights were awful this season, winning just six games and finishing 14th on the ladder.
A number of their performances - particularly on home soil - were listless and questions have been raised about the club culture after co-captain Ponga was involved in a toilet cubicle scandal involving teammate Kurt Mann at the Delany Hotel last month.
Both were later drug tested, with the results still unknown due the code's three-strike policy.
