Gervonta 'Tank' Davis and 'King' Ryan Garcia may not be any closer to fighting in the ring, but the quarrelling undefeated boxers nearly did so at a club, the latter now claims.

Addressing his followers on Instagram Live, Garcia was asked about Davis, the WBA lightweight champion with whom he's struggled to book a fight, much to the dismay of boxing fans.

The altercation didn't come to blows, but Davis, 27, allegedly committed the nightclub sin of grabbing the 24-year-old Garcia's chain. Garcia didn't specify the location of the nightclub or which chain he was referring to, but the California native has been known to wear a bejeweled necklace with a 'King Ryan' pendant.

'You know it's funny guys, I actually did see Tank in the club,' Garcia said. 'He's a tough guy, he's a tough guy.'

Garcia said he approached Davis in hopes of persuading him to agree to a fight – a logical bout given their status as two of the best boxers in the lightweight (135-pound limit) or super lightweight (140) divisions.

'I said, 'Yo are we gonna make this fight happen?' Garcia recalled. 'And I guess he got offended by that, got all worked up.'
