Moshiri, who has owned a significant stake in the club since February 2016 and raised his outright holding of shares to 94 per cent earlier this year, has been enticed by a bid from Maciek Kaminski. According to the Financial Times, talks in the past few days have progressed well between the two parties with a deal appearing likely. The usual caveat of the Premier League needing to approve the deal withstanding. However, the report states that cautioned has been urged owing to the volatility of the UK market following Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng's 'mini-budget' at the end of last week. Should the club be sold to the prospective investor, it would mean that half of the Premier League's 20 clubs would have American investment. Gary Neville, former Manchester United player-turned-pundit and football activist, has been on the record in the past few months expressing grave concern at the increased involvement of American investors in English football. 'I keep saying it but the quicker we get the regulator in the better,' he wrote earlier this month. 'US investment into English football is a clear and present danger to the pyramid and fabric of the game. They just don't get it and think differently. They also don't stop till they get what they want!' Kaminski was previously working alongside Peter Kenyon, former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive as well as investment banker Michael Klein and John Thornton but was now going at a deal alone, the report stated. How Everton fans will react to the news remains to be seen, with protests taking place in July against Moshiri's continued ownership and the presence of a number of figures on the club's board. Moshiri has spent over £500m on player transfers since his initial arrival in 2016 with the club regressing on the field as a result of some costly mistakes. Everton narrowly avoided relegation last season in the penultimate game of the campaign. The 27 Campaign, who led the protest outside Goodison Park in July, wrote on Twitter at the time: 'Thank you to all blues who were able to attend the protest today! 'The state of the club due to mismanagement is unacceptable. It's time for change!' More follows.
