Norwich and QPR missed a chance to make up ground in the automatic promotion race as both teams were denied by the post and stellar goalkeeping in an entertaining top-of-the-table clash at Carrow Road.

QPR boss Mick Beale had spoken of the need to be realistic about their ambitions this season after his side, who have spent time as league leaders, lost at Birmingham on Friday. Part of that will be to realise they cannot rock up to the likes of Carrow Road and expect to dominate play.

That was the case here and the Rs would have been grateful to make half-time without conceding, after Teemu Pukki twice came close to scoring. Both chances saw him manufacture a yard of space - as he does so well - before shooting; first to be denied by Seny Dieng and then the post.
