Tennessee Highway Patrol pulled over the 42-year-old Downing in Williamson County for allegedly speeding near the Moores Lane exit along Interstate 65. The trooper saw clear signs of intoxication from Downing, who was later booked at Williamson County jail at 3:30am on Friday. He would be released hours later after being charged with driving under the influence and speeding. 'The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Todd Downing,' the statement continued. 'The trooper observed signs of impairment and the smell of an intoxicant coming from the vehicle. Mr. Downing was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. He was booked into the Williamson County Jail.' Only hours earlier, the Titans and Downing were celebrating a 27-17 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Downing's offense was particularly strong, out-gaining the Packers 408 yards to 271. Downing has a long history in the NFL, previously coaching the Titans' tight ends after stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and the St. Louis Rams. A LexisNexis search reveals that Downing was previously arrested for DUI in his native Minnesota in 2006. The case was ultimately dismissed, according to the record.
