The resounding result is sure to have given the US a confidence boost ahead of its Group B opener against Wales on Monday and defender Aaron Long revealed it was a productive exercise for the team.

'It was a great scrimmage. We got a lot out of it, defensively, offensively,' Long said via ESPN. 'The finishing was great. Obviously, we had a couple of goals in there to get the guys confident in front of the net.'

Following the scrimmage, the American focus is now firmly on facing Gareth Bale and Co.

The US also face England and Iran in Group B with the clash against The Three Lions coming on Black Friday before it wraps up the Group Stage against Carlos Queiroz's team on November 29.
