Woods, the tournament's host, announced he was withdrawing from the field Monday afternoon, releasing a statement on Twitter. The statement read: 'In my preparation and practice for this week's Hero World Challenge, I've developed plantar fasciitis in my right foot, which is making it difficult to walk. Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the Hero World Challenge later this week Woods, the tournament's host, announced he was withdrawing from the field on Twitter 'After consulting with my doctors and trainers, I have decided to withdraw this week and focus on my hosting duties. My plan is to still compete in The Match and PNC Championship.' Austrian Sepp Straka will take Woods' place in the field in the Bahamas. The tournament was set to be the first event of 'Tiger Season,' with the 15-time Major championship participating in three events in December - the Hero World Challenge, followed by The Match and the PNC Championship. Woods said he still intends to compete in the latter two events. He will compete alongside Rory McIlroy in The Match as they face off against best friend duo Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas on December 10.
