sport news Cowboys 'full steam ahead' to sign Odell Beckham Jr despite the NFL star ... trends now The Dallas Cowboys still want to sign Odell Beckham Jr, despite the NFL free agent getting kicked off a plane over Thanksgiving weekend and being branded 'aggressive and rude' after apparently drifting in and out of consciousness. Flight attendants called a medical emergency after fearing Beckham Jr, 30, was seriously ill, according to a police statement after the incident in Miami. According to his attorney, Beckham did not deserve to be kicked off the flight, but was instead the victim of an 'overzealous flight attendant.' Either way, the Cowboys do not appear concerned. Beckham is finishing recovery from an ACL tear which he got playing in the Super Bowl for the LA Rams back in February and a number of teams want to sign him. 'Really haven't been involved with in the conversation,' Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said, when asked about the latest Beckham situation. 'But I know personally based off of my understanding, I think we're moving full steam ahead.' Police were called by concerned flight attendants on Sunday after Odell Beckham Jr was reportedly 'coming in and out of consciousness' He was filmed being escorted off the plane by passengers - many were upset for the delayed flight on the busiest weekend of the year Despite the incident, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy says the team is still working to sign the 30-year-old as he finishes his recovery from an ACL injury As well as the Cowboys, the New York Giants have been heavily linked. Beckham took to Twitter on Monday to further dismiss suggestions of wrongdoing after the Miami incident. He replied to a Twitter user who was on the same plane and called him 'unruly and responsive' in a video of him walking off the plane with: 'This looks unruly and responsive. 'I didn’t kno (sic) I couldn’t fall asleep before take off when I boarding first and the flight was delayed 30 mins. 'I had a flight to catch when I landed in LA as well. Simple shxt. I feel asleep before taking off.' He continued: 'And they were zero sleepin pills / drugs. None of that bullshxt I will not allow my name to be tarnished or disrespected. I had a long miami night. I was exhausted. And went to sleep.' He said to another Twitter user: 'How do I remember every single thing about the incident. I also hate that I even have to speak on this shxt when the big deal was not made by me.' Beckham injured his knee in the Super Bowl against Cincinnati Bengals back in February - his LA team won 23-20 but he has not played in the NFL since The receiver has been linked with a number of teams after leaving the Rams this year Beckham's attorney's full statement on Sunday said: 'Earlier today, Odell Beckham Jr boarded a morning flight in Miami without any problems. 'The flight was delayed after boarding and prior to take off. Mr. Beckham fell asleep with his blanket over his head, which is his normal practice for long flights. He was awaken[ed] and told that the plane was back at the gate and that he needed to get off the plane because he did not put his seatbelt on when asked. 'He responded that he was asleep, and that he would put his seatbelt on at that time. He was informed that it was too late, and that either he would have to get off the plane or everyone would have to deplane. 'The overzealous flight attendant insisted on removing everyone from the plane instead of simply allowing Mr. Beckham to fasten his seatbelt and proceed with the flight. 'At no time was Mr. Beckham disruptive or combative. He was willing to comply with the seatbelt requirement, but the flight attendant wanted to prove that he had the authority to have Mr. Beckham removed from the flight. 'The airline proceeded to send Mr. Beckham's luggage to Los Angeles without him.' Beckham Jr starred at the New York Giants and has been linked with a return to the team Beckham, pictured at the NBA game between the Washington Wizards and the Miami Heat last week, has been expected to soon sign for a new team for the remainder of the season Davilier went on to say the 'incident was unnecessary.' 'Sleeping on a plane should not be a cause for removal from a flight,' he said. 'If they could wake him up when the flight returned to the gate, then they could have done the same thing to ask him to put on his seatbelt.' He has been linked with signing for a number of teams and last week the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was also talking up the prospect of Beckham joining. 'Odell could help us. I believe that right now,' Jones told reporters. 'Now, we got to make it fit. That's the challenge. 'I think just the general how we make this fit. All of that, availability is huge, but the financial part is really huge, too.' Beckham, who has also played for the Browns, had up to now been expected to sign for a team by the end of November.
