Holland booked their World Cup last-16 place as Group A winners with a run-of-the-mill 2-0 win over Qatar.

Goals by Cody Gakpo and Frenkie de Jong in each half sealed their place in the knockout rounds as the hosts exited their own tournament without a point on the board.

Here's how the players rated from Tuesday's match at the Al-Bayt Stadium.

HOLLAND

Andries Noppert - Not unduly troubled given Qatar's limited attacking threat but was sharp on the rare occasions when he was, such as saving Homam Ahmed's second-half shot with his legs. 6/10

Jurrien Timber - Favoured to Matthijs de Ligt on the right side of the back three and couldn't really have wished for a more straightforward evening. Assured enough to suggest to Louis van Gaal he should retain his place for the last-16. 6.5

Virgil van Dijk - The Liverpool man showed his intentions with a tempting long ball into Memphis Depay within the opening 30 seconds. Had very little defensive duty to carry out though he was annoyed to concede a corner midway through the first-half because he didn't get a shout. 6.5

Nathan Ake - Not too many instances of the forward carries from the back that have marked Ake out at this tournament but that's mainly because Holland dominated the ball so much. 6

Denzel Dumfries - Posed a threat going forward down the right flank and forced a near-post save from Barsham in the second-half. Was beaten in one aerial duel during he first-half, leading to a rare Qatar attack. 6

Marten de Roon - A little careless in possession on a couple of occasions but kept the midfield engine ticking over nicely with his team enjoying so much of the ball. Van Gaal will have a call to make over whether to start De Roon or return to Teun Koopmeiners for the last-16 game. 6

Frenkie de Jong - A good performance was capped by a rare international goal - just his second in 48 matches. But when defenders will switch off like Qatar's did, anyone could score. The heartbeat of the Dutch possession football throughout. 7.5

Daley Blind - Posed an attacking threat in the early stages and put in some dangerous looking crosses - but had to be nowhere near his best given the level of Dutch control. 6

Davy Klaassen - A mixture of deft and clever passes to set the attackers free and sloppy moments when he gave the ball away and invited Qatar to counter. He'll need to cut out such mistakes if Holland are to progress to the latter stages. 6.5

Cody Gakpo - Could well be the hottest property at the World Cup and the best player on the pitch here. Scored his third goal in as many group games, joining some esteemed company in Johan Neeskens, Dennis Bergkamp and Wesley Sneijder in netting in three straight World Cup games. The sky is the
