We are now well into this year's World Cup, with teams already beginning to secure their respective places in the knockout stage of the tournament.

Such is the overwhelming presence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal camp that boss Fernando Santos could not even bring himself to roll out the old managerial cliché about it not mattering who scored the goal.
Asked more than once if he cared whether Ronaldo or Bruno Fernandes was credited with the opener in a 2-0 win against Uruguay, on Monday, Santos simply regurgitated a line about it being a good win, to the point where he could no longer contain his mirth and sniggered uncontrollably like a naughty schoolboy.
All very strange. Good win, though.
