The United States men's national team earned more when they defeated Iran 1-0 on Tuesday evening in Qatar. For making the knockout stages, the team is set to make $13 million in total earnings - having already secured $9m for appearing in the World Cup. The US will reap the rewards of reaching the knockouts in the form of $13m in prize money That money will grow for each round the USA progresses to, up to $42m if they win it all If the USMNT makes it further than the Round of 16, they will continue to increase their total payout. For example, if they're able to run all the way to the World Cup Final and win the trophy, they'll take $42m back stateside. It's part of a greater pool of $440m in prize money that FIFA will be distributing during this year's tournament. That's an increase of about $40m from the previous World Cup in Russia in 2018.
