Argentina's potentially tricky night proved anything but as they breezed through to the last-16 of the World Cup finals with a 2-0 win over Poland.

The two-time champions dominated the European side despite a Lionel Messi missed penalty, with Alexis Mac Allister and Julian Alvarez firing home in the second half.

Both sides ended up progressing to the knock-out stages and here is how both sets of players fared at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Poland (4-4-2)

Wojciech Szczesny - The only Poland player who could walk off the pitch with any credit. Unfortunate to concede a penalty but he still saved it and made many more crucial stops. 7.5

Matty Cash - Had his hands full in the first half trying to defend against Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria. Stood his ground well though and it will be valued experience for the Aston Villa defender. 6.5

Kamil Glik - One of the Poland players who had the audacity to have a shot on goal after nodding a free-kick narrowly wide. Otherwise looked tidy at the back in the face of an onslaught. 6

Jakub Kiwior - Never looked comfortable but made a crucial header off the line from a Tagliafico chip late on to keep Poland in the World Cup. 5.5

Bartosz Bereszynski - Worked hard in the first period to keep Argentina at bay, but was substituted in the second period in a laughable bid to try and add some threat to Poland's attack. 5.5

Piotr Zielinski - Delivered the free-kick for Glik to head wide but provided next to nothing for Lewandowski in a poor evening for Poland's midfield. 6.5

Krystian Bielik - Was one of Poland's harder workers but was still replaced during the second half as Poland desperately tried to get back into the game. 6

Grzegorz Krychowiak - Picked up a yellow card at a time when it was as good as conceding a goal given the disciplinary battle Poland had with Mexico to make the last-16. Summed up his erratic night. 6

Przemyslaw Frankowski - The midfielder never looked like applying himself in the midfield and could have little complaint over being withdrawn at half-time. 5.5

Karol Swiderski - Was meant to be playing up front with Lewandowski. Ended up playing in a midfield four protecting the defence before being hooked at the break. 5.5

Robert Lewandowski - The veteran striker's World Cup was threatening to end with the most anonymous of performances but he was let down by team-mates who offered
