Graham Arnold has done enough to retain his position as Socceroos coach after overseeing Australia's magical World Cup run, Football Australia's chief executive has confirmed.
The 59-year-old's contract expired after the Socceroos were eliminated by Argentina over the weekend, with the governing body conducting a review into his tenure in charge of the nation.
That decision has certainly raised eyebrows, with plenty of fans and pundits expecting Arnold to be handed a new deal immediately after emulating the 'golden generation' of 2006 by reaching the last-16.
Football Australia insist Graham Arnold is the man to lead the Socceroos into 2026
Reports had suggested that Football Australia were eyeing former Socceroos John Aloisi and Kevin Muscat over the post prior to the Qatar tournament, with Western United boss Aloisi admitting he holds ambitions to coach his country.
'I'd definitely be interested,' Aloisi said. 'It's an ambition of mine to coach the Socceroos one day.'
But James Johnson has clarified where things stand with Arnold.
'Graham did an outstanding job in this past cycle. He exceeded our expectations,' Johnson said via News Corp.
