Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving made two separate and yet important statements Wednesday night, scoring 33 points - but not before taping over his Nike shoes.
Irving was released as a Nike athlete Monday in the aftermath of an anti-Semitic storm, which began after the former Cavalier posted a link to an Amazon documentary on his social media.
Nike brought an immediate halt to its partnership with Irving this week following the actions and optics surrounding the free-thinking star.
On Wednesday night at the Barclays Center, Irving taped a message of liberty and spirituality across his shoe, in favor of the corporate giant's signature swoosh.
