The big-spending New York Mets are continuing to throw money at players in a desperate bid to secure success, with their payroll reportedly heading towards the $400million mark this winter.

Owner Steve Cohen is the richest owner in baseball - with a net worth of more than $17.5billion, according to Forbes - and after playoff failure in 2022, the team are looking to go deeper in 2023.

On Thursday, DailyMail.com reported that Brandon Nimmo 'is set to stay after agreeing an eight-year, $162m deal, while David Robertson has also been signed up on a one-year, $8m deal.
