Aurelien Tchouameni and Olivier Giroud both sealed the win for the 2018 World Cup winners to keep their hopes of retaining the crown alive. England captain Harry Kane initially levelled the score from the penalty spot before missing a second spot kick in the dying stages, which meant they were dumped out of the competition. Former Manchester United legend Keane insisted that is why France won the last World Cup as they can win games ugly, while England didn't take advantage of being top in the match. Keane said on ITV commentary: 'That's where you have to give the French credit, we're at the game, we feel it. The game was there for the taking. France took it and that's why they're the champions. England it's there.' ITV pundit Roy Keane (pictured) was full of praise for clinical France for edging past England His comments came in response to his fellow pundits Ian Wright and Gary Neville who had mixed opinions of whether or not England missed an opportunity with a semi-final clash against Morocco lined up for France. Wright said: 'I wouldn't say it's a missed opportunity, we missed a penalty at the death, we've come back twice against the world champions. 'It's just one of them things. We could have got a penalty in the first half. We can't say it's a missed opportunity because he missed the penalty.' To which, Neville responded: 'I think the lads will think that though Ian. We think they've done brilliantly well and represented us for four years, but I think the lads in the changing room will think that's a missed opportunity, the way they've played. 'They've got the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half and Morocco in the semi.' Wright fired back to Neville, by saying: 'I think it's a missed opportunity when you don't play well and have a Morocco in the semi final. I thought we done well by coming back. We missed a penalty that's why we are out.' Share or comment on this article: All rights reserved for this news site (dailymail) and under his responsibility
