Bitter England fans blamed the so-called 'curse of ITV' on the Three Lions' defeat to France after the team crashed out of the World Cup quarter-final on the 'jinxed' channel.

England lost to France 1-2 today in the squad's fourteenth World Cup defeat in 20 years on ITV.

Now, outraged fans have taken to Twitter to demand officials ban future matches from being screened live on the commercial television network.

The Three Lions have an appalling record when their matches are screened live on ITV. Since 1998, England have won just three of their 17 World Cup matches aired on the network – compared with an astounding 12 out of 16 on the BBC.
