Newcastle United forward Garang Kuol is poised to join Hearts on loan in January, just days after signing for the Premier League club.

Newcastle signed the 18-year-old forward from Central Coast Mariners in September for £290,000, but Kuol only completed the switch to the Premier League on New Year's Day.  

Magpies manager Eddie Howe, however, made clear last week he wanted the Australian to get some regular football under his belt before competing for his place at St James' Park.

Hearts have won the race to sign Australian wonderkid Garang Kuol on loan from Newcastle

Kuol attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs including Reading, but Hearts - who have fellow Aussies Kye Rowles, Cam Devlin and Nathaniel Atkinson on their books - look to have won the race to the teenager.
