Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow could be set for a hefty payday as the organization is expected to offer him a massive extension, according to reports. 

Burrow is gearing up to lead the team to another shot at the Super Bowl this postseason but the Bengals clearly hope he will have more chances at the Lombardi trophy in Cincinnati. 

The Bengals still have Burrow locked in for another two years, assuming they pick up his fifth-year option as expected. 

But Cincinnati reportedly already considers him its franchise quarterback and are therefore preparing to offer him an extension, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. 

The Bengals are reportedly targeting this offseason to tie Burrow down to a new mega-money deal at the end of the third year of his rookie contract. 

Many teams have used the end of a quarterback's third year to open negotiations with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Kyler Murray all receiving extensions ahead of their fourth season in the league.

And Murray's huge $46.1 million per year average deal could be the standard Burrow aims to meet at the negotiation table.
