Rugby legend Wally Lewis will step down from his Channel Nine role due to health reasons.
According to TV Blackbox, the Queensland great will leave his post as Nine News Queensland sports presenter effective immediately.
While the 63-year-old will not return to the studio for this year, it is understood he will remain with the network he joined back in 1999 after a spell at Channel Seven.

'My health has made decisions for me in the past so it’s my turn to make decisions for my health,' Lewis told TV Blackbox.
'While I’ll take more of a backseat role in the studio, Nine News viewers can still expect me to keep them up-to-date on the highs and lows of local and international sport, and of course share my weekly NRL tips.'
The former Kangaroos captain, however, dismissed the suggestion he could call time on his broadcasting career.
'Beyond Nine News, I’ll continue to call Wide World Of Sports home, and there are some special Nine programs in the pipeline that I’m also ready to tackle alongside my ongoing involvement with the Queensland Rugby League and Former Origin Greats.
