Olympic gold medalist and four-time alpine ski World Cup champion Lindsey Vonn has sarcastically admitted that she 'must be horribly unlikable' after fans on social media berated her after her ex-teammate Mikaela Shiffrin overtook her personal record as the woman with the most World Cup wins.
'Maybe we lift each other up instead of tearing others down. Proud of Mikaela,' the 2010 Winter Olympics gold medalist in women's downhill skiing added on Twitter on Tuesday. 'Not proud of your comments and I’m sure she’d feel the same. Have a lovely day.'
The 38-year-old, who retired in 2019 due to injuries, was responding to a ski fan who had tweeted earlier: 'Congrats #MikaelaShiffrin for overtaking #LindseyVonn with her 83rd victory. Was about time to push that unlikeable person from her throne.'

Shiffrin, 27, won a record 83rd World Cup race to break tie with Vonn on Tuesday in Italy for the most victories by a woman and now only needs four more competitive wins to top Swedish legend Ingemark Stenmark's overall mark - 86.
Vonn, meanwhile, continued to defend herself while being trolled on social media.
