Christophe Galtier was forced into showdown talks with Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe, according to reports in France.
The centre back was put out by being kept in the dark about his demotion as vice-captain in favour of superstar forward Kylian Mbappe, who enjoys massive power at the club after signing a new three-year contract this summer.
And as reported by French outlet L'Equipe, manager Galtier held clear-the-air talks with the 27-year-old, who was the previous deputy, to explain his position and quieten the controversy at the club.
