Philadelphia may well be the ultimate sporting city, but it could find itself on the wrong side of history if the Eagles lose the Super Bowl later this month.

Incredibly, it could become the first city to have three consecutive sports teams lose in professional championship games, after its baseball and soccer teams recently fell at the final hurdle.

The first two occurred in the space of 24 hours in November, as the Phillies lost the World Series 4-2 to the Houston Astros, while the Union were on the losing side of a penalty shootout against Los Angeles FC in the MLS Cup final.
