The Empire State Building performed a swift U-turn on its decision to light up green and white in honor of the Philadelphia Eagles' NFC Championship win Sunday, claiming it itself was 'hurt' by the move.
After the Eagles trounced the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 Sunday, the Twitter account for the Empire State Building shared a photo of the iconic New York landmark lit up in Philadelphia's colors.
The bizarre move to honor one of city's most bitter rivals infuriated many New Yorkers on social media.

But the skyscraper quickly rescued itself by switching its lights to the Kansas City Chiefs' red and gold after Patrick Mahomes and Co. clinched the AFC Championship title over the Cincinnati Bengals in the later game.
