Vinicius marked his 200th game for Real Madrid with a goal as Carlo Ancelotti’s team went to within five points of leaders Barcelona.

The Brazilian was also sent flying by a wild challenge from Gabriel Paulista in the second half and the former Arsenal defender was shown the red card by referee Javier Alberola.

It was Vinicius’ 49th goal for Madrid and the perfect way to mark becoming the third youngest player behind Raul and Iker Casillas to reach the landmark of games.

The 22-year-old sprinted clear of Valencia’s ragged defence and shot past Giorgi Mamardashvili who had done his best to keep Madrid at bay until minute 52 when Marco Asensio picked his spot brilliantly from the edge of the area to give Real Madrid the lead, Vinicius' second came three minutes later.

For Valencia it was a miserable night under new caretaker coach Voro making his eighth debut in the Valencia dug out.
