Veteran NRL agent Chris Orr has revealed that man mountain Jordan Mailata was only 'lukewarm' about trying to get into the NFL when he proposed the idea to the Philadelphia Eagles star.

The Australian rugby league convert, who is currently preparing to play the biggest game of his life in the Super Bowl against Kansas City on Monday, is currently playing on a contract worth up to $88million.

But just six years ago the Bankstown boy was virtually broke and playing gridiron wasn't on his radar.

The 25-year-old, who stands 203cm tall and weighs over 158kg, met with Pacific Sports Management director Orr in late 2017 when he was struggling to win another contract with Souths.

'The minute Jordan walked into the hotel at Coogee, I nearly fell over. I couldn't believe the size of the bloke. He was a monster,' Orr told the Daily Telegraph

'I looked at George and said, "Right, we have to get Jordan to have a crack at the NFL".

Mailata had never put on a football helmet and had only dreamed of playing in the NRL, so he wasn't sold on the idea.

'I asked Jordan his thoughts and he was lukewarm, to be honest,' said Orr.

'He wasn't sure he could get there and I think people around him had similar concerns, but I said, 'Let's start with step one. We'll cut up a highlights package, we'll get some footage and we'll get some photos.
