Colorado State has issued a public apology to Utah State and Ukrainian guard Max Shulga after sections of the crowd were heard chanting 'Russia' in Saturday's game in a bid to throw him off.

Shulga - a junior and guard from Kyiv, Ukraine - was at the free throw line with 40.9 seconds left with the Aggies leading 83-77 when all of a sudden fans inside Moby Arena started the chant.

Voices can be heard from the Colorado State section, per ESPN. Later on, the school said in a series of tweets that the chanting came from a 'small group of individuals.'

It has also been reported that Shulga's family still live in Ukraine, and have done throughout the war.
