Despite having 70% possession, Leeds were denied by Keylor Navas who made four crucial saves, to leave the visitors level on points with Everton. ‘I’m almost in disbelief that we found a way to lose because for me, we’re better in almost every phase. We controlled the match and we should win but right now, we are finding ways to lose and that’s difficult to swallow,’ said Marsch. Chants of ‘Marsch out’ and ‘Jesse has to go’ emanated from the away end as Leeds fell to their 10th defeat of the season. Marsch has now won just two of his last 17 league games - the last manager to have such a run for Leeds was Howard Wilkinson in 1996 - but he insisted that despite the fans discontent, he is aware of the predicament that they’re in. Fans chanted for Leeds boss Jesse Marsch to be sacked following defeat at Nottingham Forest ‘It’s my responsibility and I understand their frustration and doubts and I accept it. Internally we have belief here, we do. The players are all in, they give everything they have,’ said Marsch. ‘I have to find a way to the good things which are happening into results or we find ourselves in a stressful situation.’ With a double-header against Man Utd coming up this week, Marsch admitted that Leeds desperately need to turn performances into winning if they are to avoid relegation. ‘Right now, we’re at a point like it was before Liverpool when we know we have to get a result. Period. My last message (to the players) was that it’s a big week. It’s our biggest rival and we have to focus on that right now.’ In contrast, Steve Cooper was frank about his sides performance admitting he was not happy with the first-half but was delighted with the outcome. No Premier League side has won more points in 2023 than Forest. ‘That's probably the first time we've won a game where we've not played great this season, and maybe we deserve that, I'll say. But at the same time the first half, we’ve got to play better in the Premier League. I’d much rather be sitting here after that, than maybe playing great and losing,’ said the Forest boss. And he echoed his praises for Navas as the keeper inspired Forest to their fifth league game without defeat. ‘The talking points are his saves and rightly so, he deserves all the credit for that but I loved his composure in the game as well, his game management and his decision making.’ Cooper will have a tough choice to make when Dean Henderson is fit but that’s the kind of problems you like as a manager. Unfortunately for Marsch, he faces an entirely different problem.
