No matter if Philly loses to the Kansas City Chiefs, two Eagles fans will especially remember this year's Super Bowl after the NFL gifted them free tickets to the big game in Arizona — four years on from experiencing a counterfeit ticketing issue at Super Bowl LII in 2018, when they were scammed out of about $5,000. 

Chris DiSimone said he couldn't believe it when he found out on Thursday that he and his son were going to witness Jalen Hurts and the Eagles attempt to win the franchise's second Super Bowl title in 11 years.  

Furthermore, the surprising news comes just nine months after DiSimone lost his family home in a wildfire in Southern California in May.

'I was in tears,' DiSimone told Front Office Sports on Thursday, three days before Super Bowl LVII. 'I couldn't see the road.'

In 2018, DiSimone was cheated out of about $5,000 to see his beloved Eagles take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Philly ended up winning it all that year following a spectacular display from QB Nick Foles.

The DiSimones bought fraudulent Super Bowl tickets worth $5,000 in 2018 to see Philly play

Four years on, DiSimone's story caught the eye of Melissa Pardi, the NFL's senior director for social responsibility. She wanted to make things right, this time around.

'We like to surprise fans, and we are on the lookout for stories like Chris,' she said. 'We wanted to do something to brighten his day.'
