The New York Giants are reportedly set to release wide receiver Kenny Golladay on March 15 after two tumultuous seasons that went far from according to plan.
By waiting until the first day of the new league year on March 15 the Giants will save $6.7million in salary cap space by avoiding Golladay's $21.4m cap charge, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
They will still be faced with a $14.9m dead cap penalty that may be stretched out over the course of two seasons if they designate him as a post-June 1 cut.
The four-year deal worth $72m, with $40m in guaranteed money that Golladay signed as a free agent in 2021 is likely to go down as one of the worst signings in Giants history.
