Former NRL star Brett Hodgson is confident he can succeed in a new code after he was appointed the new Wallabies defence coach this week.
A premiership winner with the Wests Tigers in 2005, the ex-fullback will be 'reunited' with Eddie Jones.
He was working with Jones for England's rugby team late last year, only to be relieved of his duties when the Red and Whites went in a different direction.
Jones then replaced Dave Rennie as the Wallabies boss in January - and Hodgson leapt at the opportunity to work with him again ahead of the World Cup in September.
'I understand rugby and I understand in coaching you are accountable to other decisions that aren't necessarily your own doing,' Hodgson told the Sydney Morning Herald.
