Conor Benn has appeared to suggest that last year's failed drugs tests for the banned substance clomifene was good publicity. 

The 26-year-old saw his much-anticipated bout with Chris Eubank Jr called off at the 11th hour last October after it was revealed by Sportsmail that he had failed two tests in the lead up to the bout. 

Benn has also maintained that he was innocent of any wrongdoing, and last month he was readmitted to the World Boxing Council's rankings - though he awaits the crucial decisions of the British Boxing Board of Control and the UK Anti-Doping agency, who hold ultimate sway over whether or not he will be licensed to fight in the UK anytime soon. 

Responding to a post on social media which appeared to suggest that the last few months have been good for the fighter and his publicity, Benn agreed, stating he had been given inadvertent credit by those who otherwise would not dream of doing so.

'No good I could of done would have ever got this sort of publicity,' he wrote.

Benn's comments come amid the fighter going on something of a war path in recent weeks as he eyes a return to the ring just months on from one of the most controversial incidents to rock British boxing last year. 

He has conducted an interview with Talk TV's Piers Morgan, to be broadcast on Monday night, in which it is expected he will further outline his case for being found innocent of any wrongdoing. 

'No holes in the truth,' he tweeted alongside a photo of himself with the broadcaster on Friday morning.  

The WBC's ruling, which was met by widespread incredulity, found Benn not guilty of intentionally trying to dope. They said there was
