Vincent Kompany blasted the use of astroturf on the side of football pitches after Burnley captain Josh Brownhill slipped and was forced off as the Championship leaders were held to a goalless draw by Mick McCarthy's Blackpool.
'I'm very very against astroturf on the side of pitches - it makes no sense whatsoever,' said Kompany. 'I remember when they introduced it at the Etihad and Peter Odemwingie did his ACL in front of us.'
'You wear studs on grass, not on astroturf and if you're out on the wing, you're sometimes on grass and sometimes on astroturf.' added the Burnley manager. 'I know clubs do it because of aesthetics but its dangerous and it shouldn't be allowed on the side of the pitch.
