'How pathetically spineless' was Piers Morgan's description of the BBC after they made the decision on Friday to temporarily remove Gary Lineker from his presenting duties on Match of the Day.

Lineker has been the show's iconic star figurehead since first appearing as a guest on the first MOTD episode of the Premier League era in 1992 and has been the recognisable face of the production ever since.

However, his position is now in serious doubt after the BBC made the decision on Friday for Lineker to 'step back' from the show due to his recent tweet that saw him compare the UK Government's policy over asylum seekers to Nazi Germany.

Many were waiting to see how the controversial Morgan would react to the news and it appears he is in full support of Lineker's actions, posting a damning statement against the BBC on his Twitter.

Morgan tweeted: 'WTF? How pathetically spineless.. I now demand the BBC suspend every presenter who has made public comment about news or current affairs - starting with Sir David Attenborough and Lord Sugar.
