Hopes of a royal runner at the meeting have been dashed after the Nicky Henderson-trained Steal A March was scratched from Thursday’s Pertemps Hurdle Final.
Steal A March qualified for the Festival final of the Pertemps series when winning at Wincanton on Boxing Day and he would have been a first runner there for King Charles and the Queen Consort.
Meanwhile, the Charles Byrnes-trained Blazing Khal has been given the go ahead to run in Thursday’s Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle.
