Ex-Yankee Andrew Benintendi feels he's 'where I should be' after leaving New York for Chicago White Sox as he admits he 'couldn't refuse' historic five-year, $75m deal offer

Former Yankee Andrew Benintendi says he's 'where I should be' after leaving New York for the Chicago White Sox during the offseason. 

The left fielder agreed to the biggest contract in White Sox history by signing a five-year, $75million contract. 

There were rumors that Benintendi wanted to get closer to his midwestern roots but that didn't deter the Yankees from attempting to tempt him into returning to the Bronx with a four-year deal. 

But it came as no surprise when he ultimately decided to return to the Midwest, especially after cost-conscious Chicago's offer. 

'It was an offer I couldn't refuse. This is where I wanted to be and where I should be,' Benintendi said in White Sox camp.

'It's not something specifically where I wanted to stay in the Midwest. But as far as the teams that were interested, I think this was the best fit.' 

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman revealed he had an inkling that Benintendi wanted to be closer from home but insisted New York had to try.
