Liverpool are entering the final stages of the race to finish in the top four in order to qualify for next year's Champions League and finish what has been a poor season on a positive note.
But even that might not be enough for the Reds who could still fail to secure qualification if certain - and somewhat unlikely - other factors go against them in the Premier League run-in.
Jurgen Klopp's side are in a group of teams that includes Newcastle, Brighton, Fulham, Brentford and Chelsea, that have a chance of finishing inside the top four.
The first two spots are almost certainly tied up by title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City, while third and fourth places are currently occupied by both Manchester United and Tottenham respectively.
However, if both Man United and Chelsea - who are still in European club competitions - should win their respective tournaments and still finish outside the top four, then those teams in third and fourth would miss out.
Liverpool could miss out on the Champions League if Chelsea win the tournament and Manchester United win the Europa League, with both teams finishing outside the top four
