The US men's national team has been without a permanent head coach since Gregg Berhalter's contract expired on December 31, and that could remain the case for a while longer according to a new report.
The federation's sporting director Earnie Stewart departed his role on January 26, and while the interview process for that role has reached 'the second stage,' US Soccer is targeting a July 20 date for it to be filled according to ESPN, citing statements from USSF president Cindy Parlow Cone and CEO JT Batson.
Cone said earlier this year that given that timeline, it may not be until September when a new men's manager is hired, the publication wrote.
In-person interviews have reportedly been scheduled for the sporting director job, but nonetheless, US Soccer seems far off from naming a permanent coach.
