When Ally McCoist sat down to enjoy some Formula One action over the weekend, little did he know the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix he assumed was live had already been and gone.

One week after Sergio Perez prevailed in Jeddah, McCoist believed he was watching the Red Bull star come out on top as it happened - only to discover on Monday morning that it was in fact a replay.

In a hilarious moment on talkSPORT's breakfast show, the Rangers legend asked host Laura Woods which F1 expert they would be speaking to fresh from what he thought was the weekend's race.

'It's becoming a non-event the Grand Prix isn't it,' he said.

McCoist then appeared to be told by someone off camera that there was no F1 Grand Prix over the weekend, to which he replied: 'It was Saudi Arabia at the weekend. Was I watching a replay?'
